You might have heard one of the versions of the story about how we met. Whether you believe it was the bean aisle at Whole Foods or the gas station and a forgotten cell phone, or something else entirely, we think we've actually met one another several times, in past lives! We share a love of the outdoors, animals (the ones in our family and those who show up randomly and make us laugh), ranch work, a glass of good bourbon on the porch and hanging out with our friends! We hope our wedding is a good reflection of the playful, adventurous, and deeply-rooted spirit of all the ways we love one another :)

Our wedding is going to take place in a cow pasture! The terrain at the farm is a little rough and rugged and there will be a bit of walking around....We're playing up the rustic vibe and would love it if you wanted to embrace the theme with some ranch-chic or ranch-formal attire (*don't worry, you definitely don't need a costume or a cowboy hat!!)Here are a few suggestions:For girls: Pretty prints, floral flowy or mini dresses in natural and earthy tones, paired with cute cowboy boots and a jacket or wrap for layering. We don't recommend open-toed sandals or stilettos!!For guys: Casual dress pants or smarter dark wash jeans with a button-down shirt, a vest or blazer, and cowboy boots. Leave your tux at home!It can get chilly in the evenings in Wynola, so please plan accordingly with an extra layer in case you don't keep warm by dancing!

Dress Code

Below are some suggestions for local hotels in the Julian area! The town of Julian is about an hour and fifteen minutes from the city of San Diego, and we recommend staying here! It's a small but cute old gold mining town with a few shops, some restaurants, breweries, amazing apple pie bakeries and some beautiful local hikes! If you signed up for the shuttles from Julian Main St, please look out for an email from us a few days before the wedding, with details on pickup and drop off. For those planning to come to San Diego a few days ahead of time, we're also suggesting a couple of north county beach area hotels at the bottom of the list. If we can help with any other specific recommendations, please let us know!

(This is our recommended place to stay. They currently have the whole property blocked for us and offer a variety of room sizes with a couple of accessible options on the ground floor.) Enjoy a comfortable stay at the Julian Lodge in Julian, California. Our 23 guestrooms feature flat-screen TVs with cable, complimentary Wi-Fi, and coffee/tea makers. Private bathrooms include shower/tub combinations, complimentary toiletries, and hair dryers. Housekeeping is provided daily. We offer convenient self-parking for a fee and our front desk is staffed during limited hours.

Julian Lodge

Julian Gold Rush Hotel in Julian provides pleasant accommodations with a garden and a terrace. Among the facilities at this property are a 24-hour front desk and a concierge service along with free WiFi throughout the property. The hotel has some family rooms. All rooms at Julian Gold Rush Hotel include en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and some rooms also feature a seating area. An American breakfast is available each morning.

(This is a slightly more boutique option with comfortable, rustic charm slightly away from the main street in Julian. Reservations for this property will be open 90 days before our wedding date so if you'd like to book a room please visit their web site or call them at the end of March.) Orchard Hill

A recently refurbished modest motel, closest in distance to the farm. Guest rooms feature a TV and a seating area. A private entrance is available in all rooms at the Apple Tree Inn. Free toiletries are provided. Rooms offer mountain views. Downtown Julian is 3.5 miles from the Inn Apple Tree. The San Diego Zoo Safari Park is 45 minutes’ drive away. The San Diego Airport is 1 hour and 30 minutes’ drive from the property.

Nestled in the San Vicente Valley, Riviera Oaks Resort and Racket Club features 16 tennis courts and a spa. Their spacious villas offer fully equipped kitchens and fireplaces. The one to two-bedroom villas provide balconies and dining areas. They also include sofa beds, cable TV and DVD players. Wi-Fi is available. The Ramona, California Riviera Oaks Resort &amp; Racket Club offers guests 2 pools and 2 jacuzzis. The resort has saunas, barbecue facilities and a games room. Guests at this property can access a gym and volleyball and basketball courts. Bikes and tennis lessons are also available. Riviera Oaks Resort is one mile from San Vincente Golf Course. It is 17 miles from Cordiano Winery and 23 miles from Julian Pioneer Museum.

We're planning to provide some shuttle buses for guests from the Farm back to the town of Julian with drop offs at the local hotels, for those who would like a ride! We'll probably offer an earlier shuttles around 10pm and then a couple more at half hour intervals. More details and the coming soon! It's more challenging to get Ubers in the Julian area but you may be able to reserve one ahead of time if you'd prefer to go back to the city on Saturday night.

In the Town of Julian The Julian Historical Society and Julian Pioneer Museum are both in town.The main street of Julian also has some great shops and a few fun restaurants as well as Julian Brewing and Nickel Brewery. Our local Julian Cider is well worth a try! Other Local Places to Check Out: The stunning Anza Borrego Desert State Park is within a 15-minute drive and includes amazing hiking opportunities and camping.
